The Juggernauts

Here we have quite the combo. We have the Sixth Doctor and possibly my least favorite companion (Mel) and my favorite Classic villain. That means I'm rooting for Davros!

"Within a small mining colony on the dark and distant planet of Lethe, events are occurring the results of which could dramatically affect things on a universal scale. For within the dingy corridors of the artificial biosphere, the lone survivor of a devastating crash has expertly wormed his way into the lives of the colony¹s personnel.

A scientist known as Davros.

Separated from one another across space and time, the Doctor and Mel find themselves in very different predicaments: Mel has been employed on Lethe, while the Doctor has been imprisoned aboard an alien spacecraft. Both situations are inexorably linked, however, and at the apex of the two sits Davros and the terrifying possibility of a new threat even more powerful than the Daleks!

Rescuing Mel and stopping Davros should be the Doctor¹s primary goals, but could it be that this time, Mel does not wish to be rescued? And might Davros actually be working on something for the benefit of the civilised galaxies?"

This can be bought at BigFinish.com

What did you think? Was Mel better in this format than in the show? She's have to be. Right? RIGHT?

The Juggernauts (Sixth, 2005) Empty The Juggernaut

This was fun, I suppose, but not my favorite. I don't love the 6th Doctor, so it seems like for me to really get into it there needs to be a great story and a fun companion (see: Jubiliee). Alas, I just wasn't feeling this one. Sort of an interesting concept with Davros creating the juggernauts and Mel pretty much helping him to do that.

Jeff was a nice addition in helping Mel and the Doctor, and I actually would have liked to have a little more of him.

Still a fun listen though, even if not my favorite.

Agreed, not feeling this one. I might have liked it but it just seemed too sterile and had no soul. It seems like in two hours, nothing really happened. There wan't much action and the Doctor really didn't do much. This was my first time with Mel, having never seen her in the show, and I kind of liked her. Maybe she's different in the show, but there was nothing in here that made me dislike her.

The Juggernauts (Sixth, 2005) Empty Started Off Well

I really liked the first 45 minutes or so. It starts off right in the action, the companion is on her own for months starting a new life, The Doctor is recruited by the Daleks. All good stuff. Yet the second Davros decides his disguise was really only for those listening at home, it was predictable and flat fair. I didn't hate Mel as much as I did on the show, but she really decided to hate the Daleks and Davros at the end despite only meeting them in this middling affair. I did like the humor throughout. Colin Baker is always good and it did a good job poking fun at the show a little bit. Forgettable for the rest though.
